10:10AM – I am Daniel Flynn and I will be your live blogger for the day! I will be updating you about the Newsday as we go, as well as providing news updates from around the globe as it happens. Radio bulletins are set for 11:00, 12:00 and 13:00, with the TV programme at 16:00 – bring on the final Monday of term!

10:30AM – “And the nominees are…”

The BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards are this Sunday, and the nominees are in.

10:40AM – Our #LeedsHacks have gone global this week!

Our very own Sloane Caetano made her way over to the CN Tower in Toronto to check out the refurbishments.

11:20AM – The UEFA Champions League draw to determine the round of 16’s fixtures is underway – with Manchester City out of the hat already to face Villarreal.

Liverpool are set to face Red Bull Salzburg in a favourable tie for the Reds – who finished top of their group with 18 points – becoming the first English side to win all six group stage matches.

11:22AM: WOW! A European baptism of fire of Ralf Rangnick as his side are set to face PSG!

Messi vs Ronaldo in the knockout stages of the UCL at their respective new clubs… This should be special.

11:40AM – Last night Boris Johnson announced that over-18’s in the UK will all be afforded the opportunity to access the COVID-19 booster before the new year, as the Prime Minister moves to prevent the spread of the new Omicron variant.

All the info you need to know:

12:00PM – Some positive news this lunchtime – a man who was missing for over 24 hours on Skirrid Fach hill in South Wales has been found.

The man is now in hospital and rescuers credited the ‘phenomenal’ public response to their mission as the reason for its success.

12:10PM – Our first Christmas jumper of the day.. ‘hats off’ to you, Emmie.

12:20PM – A regulator has warned that the NHS’ blood stocks may hit a critical low this winter, according to The Independent.

12:30PM – Our presenters are in the building, with two radio bulletins under their belt already.

12:45PM – All the piece to camera’s are filmed and into the editing process. As live blogger I am not doing one this week, what a shame!

13:00PM – In a controversial turn of events, UEFA are set to re-do the Round of 16 draw after Manchester United were left out for a portion of it.

The re-draw will be completed at 14:00pm as the original result was declared null and void.

In a statement, UEFA said “Following a technical problem with the software of an external service provider that instructs the officials as to which teams are eligible to play each other, a material error occurred in the draw for the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.”

We will update you with the new draw as it happens.

13:30PM – Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton will be knighted on Wednesday, according to Royal officials.

The 36-year-old suffered championship heartbreak on Sunday, losing out to Max Verstappen in the final lap despite leading throughout.

Hamilton’s knighthood was announced last year, with it set to be completed this week.

13:50PM – Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that only one person has died in the UK from the Omicron variant.

14:10PM – The second iteration of the UEFA Champions League is underway, with all draws being checked by human intelligence…

Manchester City are the first British team out again, drawing Sporting Club De Portugal.

14:20PM – Take 2: The tie of the round will once again feature PSG, with Lionel Messi and co. set to take on Real Madrid.

Liverpool will take on Inter Milan, Chelsea will face last seasons Ligue 1 winners LOSC Lille and Manchester United will clash with Atletico Madrid.

14:25PM – The Christmas jumpers are flowing in now – I believe there is a prize up for grabs!
