Police arrest 17 year old as Rockstar Games is hacked

Last week, over 90 videos and pictures of the unreleased Grand Theft Auto 6 flooded the internet after Rockstar Games fell victim to one of the largest data leaks in gaming history. The unprecedented attack was originally written off as a hoax, however, Rockstar have released a statement confirming that the leak was in fact authentic.

A 17 year old boy was arrested over the weekend in Oxfordshire and is suspected to be connected to at least two cyber attacks against Rockstar Games and Uber. No further information has been released other than that he was likely arrested due to his connections to the hacking group “Laspus$”, who have been known to target large institutions.

The data heist contained unfinished maps, characters and gameplay from the most anticipated release since its predecessor, GTA V, in 2013. Lucia and Jason were revealed as the game’s main protagonists, a Bonnie and Clyde duo retro fitted with a bulging arsenal of 21st century weaponry. Lucia will also be the first ever playable female character to feature in a Grand Theft Auto campaign.

It was also revealed that the sixth addition to the series will be set in Vice City for the second time, a fictional reimagination of Miami, built to scale for the player to explore and wreak havoc in.
