A trio of anti-abortion protesters have been protesting outside MSI Reproductive Choices treatment centre on Barrack Road, and have vowed to continue until November.

Protests first began on the 28th September and are due to continue for a 40 day period, where protesters will stay in front of the clinic during the clinics opening times.

Signs are being held up by the three protesters trying to encourage women to ‘choose life’ and stating they will pray for any women considering an abortion to change their mind.

The approach the protesters have taken has been named ‘intimidating’ and ‘cruel’ by a number of people who have seen the signs.

Pro choice group ‘Sister supporters’ have set up across the road to protest against the anti-abortion group.

Emily Smith, 22, said, “We are protesting peacefully. We just want any woman considering an abortion to not feel intimidated by any pro-lifers. As our sign reads, it is your body so it is your choice.”

Anti-abortion protesters claim that they are receiving a long line of abuse as people are honking and shouting at them as they drive by. However, it has not stopped the group returning every day to continue to take a stand.

Irene Toth, anti-abortion protester, gave this statement: “Our aim is not to upset women or anyone else our protests may offend. We simply want to inform women on the decision they are making.”

The final day of protests is said to be on the 6th November.
