The Yorkshire Music Forum Convention allows aspiring artists to meet with popular musical organisations.

The Yorkshire Music Forum Convention will return to Leeds on the 13th October to raise awareness of new musical opportunities in the Yorkshire region.

It is an opportunity for a variety of organisations working in the music industry to come together with amateur artists and provide a deeper connection to each other by exchanging contact information and sharing opportunities.

This is the sixth year that the event will be hosted at Belgrave Music Hall and Canteen in Leeds and is running from 12.30 until 5pm. This is all possible due to public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

The convention is produced by a variety of experienced musical organisations such as Launchpad, DMF Digital, Arnold Brown Ltd and Music:Leeds and supported by BPI and Youth Music. These organisations specialise in helping aspiring artists become admired musicians within the community.

I spoke with Sam Nicholls, a member of Music Local, an organisation which is supporting the event this year. He told me that the convention “aims to open up knowledge and give people opportunities.”

During the event there will be a number of guest speakers who are hoping to inspire others to join their organisations and learn about new career pathways within the industry. It gives people an opportunity to speak with experienced employees within the companies.

The convention has helped many young people become the high-profile artists that they are today, and they aim to support many more this year.

Reuben Healer is an aspiring artist who came to the event to become part of the “community.” He also hopes to “bump into other people who I can collaborate with.” This is a chance for Reuben to kickstart his musical career and gain some new friends within the industry.
