Disposable vapes have become very popular in the last year. The colourful vapes have taken the younger generation by a storm. The vapes have become a phenomenon with all sorts of sweet flavours, different variations of sizes and different brands of vape.

A lot of people are unaware of the health risks these vapes carry. Experts have said that one inhale from disposable is equivalent to 48 cigarettes. Emma McDonald from Vapes Social Leeds Merrion Street said “we have a lot with students and people coming off cigarettes because they think its an easy option, people are unaware of the heath risks” “If someone had never smoked before I would not encourage people to buy them because they are highly addictive as they have the highest legal limit of nicotine the UK permits”

Students are spending huge amounts of money on these disposables student Hannah Simmons who regularly vapes spends on average £12 to £20 a week on these vapes. ” I used to smoke and I saw online these vapes everywhere and it is very expensive to keep up with. I am definitely more addicted to vapes compared to how I was with cigarettes.”

The vapes are in such high demand that small retailers are making knock off versions of the disposables that are filled with chemicals that shouldn’t be consumed. These fake vapes are causing gum disease to some consumers and serious chest infections.

A lot of students specifically are at the route of the high demand as they are so easily accessible as there are over 20 vape shops in Leeds and that is excluding convenience store.
