Another winless streak for Bradford Park Avenue has them in a tough spot

Bradford Park Avenue (BPA), after being relegated to the Northern Premier League have an uphill battle as they sit 2 points adrift of the drop zone.

A shaky start to the season has meant BPA means they are among the favourites for relegation after being predicted to bounce straight back up.

The second of September was the last time BPA managed a win. Among those included a penalty loss in the FA Cup

These types of streaks are all too familiar for BPA. This time last year they won just 1 in 7.

During that poor run of form, manager Mark Bower seemed uninterested in addressing where they went wrong and said that “past results are irrelevant”.

BPA commentator of 3 years Samuel Wright said, “it’s difficult to put a finger on why (the team has struggled).” He followed on by saying “maybe we’re struggling to adapt to being favourites…adapting to teams sitting back.”

Although it may be a tactical issue, Samuel said, “It’s more the players we’ve got really…who are used to playing how we did last season.”

Samuel suggests recruitment may be an issue also. He said, “We don’t really have a target man…someone who can score 25 a season.”

This past summer, having scored only 43 goals last season, the only attacking business was the loan turned permanent signing Jordan Preston, who is yet to get off the mark.

Media manager for BPA Tom Ogden said, “We need full support from the fans…but they need something to get behind.”

According to Tom the manager “has full backing” from the club and the players. He put the poor form to “a confidence issue.” Tom mentioned, “this is a physical league…that was a bit of a shock for them.”

The fixtures are coming thick and fast with each and every game being so important. Next up for the Avenue is a trip down the M1 towards Nottinghamshire to face ninth place Worksop Town.
