Historic Harrogate loss continues to heap on home pressure.

Town second best in history-creating result.

Harrogate Town AFC had the chance to come one point away from the playoffs and reverse their poor home form, the only thing standing in their way was Mansfield, a club they have never lost to…

This season has brought renewed hope to ‘Town’ who have put together a great away record of 4 wins in 8. The 4th best away record in the division.

Unusually, home form is weighing them down, with only 2 wins and 5 losses so far, the 2nd worst record.

Mansfield pitched up at the Envirovent Stadium, with hopes of crafting a first ever win against the boys in yellow and black.

Town’s ground has been subject to change over the past few years, having been promoted into the Football League they have had more scope to improve the facilities.

The most tangible change is the construction of a new south stand. Which is scheduled to be completed by the end of Autumn.

Simon Weaver has managed Town for a staggering 14 years, and has spoken recently about how the club is developing an ethos off the pitch:

In terms of the Mansfield game, Harrogate were on the back foot for large portions, and fell to a 0-3 deficit by half-time.

Despite a valiant effort in the second period, Town were unable to claw back any points despite a consolation from Sutton.

History making was inevitable here, as a win for the home side would have put them 1 point away from the play-offs and a step closer to a potential highest ever finish.

Speaking after the defeat, Weaver said:

“We looked scared to have a shot tonight incase people were booed, I mean come on its not a threatening atmosphere and yet a few looked underwhelmed tonight.”

“Weve been doing great away from home, the ones that travel with us can see the passionate performances, we have been very deserving of the wins.”

“At home we’re a shadow of ourselves, and we have got to try create an atmosphere here by doing better. Its as simple as that”.
