A number of places across Leeds are offering free family days out to help parents keep their children entertained during the half term.

With pressing concerns regarding the cost of living crisis, many families in Leeds are looking for cost-effective ways to have fun whilst children are off school.

Leeds City Museum offers free admission with a number of exhibits to explore from Leeds history, natural sciences and the ancient worlds.

Leeds Playhouse runs free storytelling sessions led by professional storytellers to spark creativity in children and aid their listening skills.

Kirkstall Abbey is holding a haunted halloween hunt trail from 31 October until 5 November. Here families can walk the trail and look for spooky creatures and statues at no cost.

Leeds Royal Armouries offers free admission with daily live shows and combat demonstrations to bring history back to life for its visitors.

Kirkgate Market is offering a half term ‘stay and play’ scheme from 30 October until 3 November with a range of activities from arts and crafts to table tennis.

Gemma, visitor of Leeds City Museum said: “Everything costs a lot at the moment and having stuff to do, especially in the holidays, when you can have a day out, and that day out is going to just cost you parking or something, makes a massive difference.”

Suzanne Marsh, employee at Leeds City Museum said: “A lot of families struggle to get things to do during the holidays and it’s free to come into the museum, it’s educational and it’s good for them socially.”
