Real Journalism by Leeds Hacks

Newsday Reflection 1 –

Reflection Task -

On my first Newsday I decided to tackle the task of doing the 300-word article with a multimedia element. With myself living in Hyde Park and a numerous number of individuals I know who also live there we all know the crime rates and the increase of break ins in the area. I first obtained quotes from my neighbour who had been broken into last year via a ladder that the robbers used to enter through a first-floor window. She gave me relevant quotes. In addition to this Tim Duffy (a lecturer at LBU) lived in Hyde Park as a student over 30 years ago, he explained to me how even back then the crime rates in the area were high and the road he lived on was nicknamed ‘the most burgled street in the UK’. With the information and statistics, I provided him he said, ‘It seems not much has changed’. With my first news day done I hope to continue to provide interesting stories in relation to Leeds, with the role of editor/producer up for grabs next week I will try and take that role to allow myself to get the best grade possible.
