Real Journalism by Leeds Hacks

Newsday Reflection 2 –

Newsday Task 2 -

With the second Newsday finished this week I gave a different style of story, a 300-word article led by images. Phil Hay is one of the most respected Journalists in Leeds and me and the rest of the sports Journalism class have been lucky enough to interview him recently. He gave us professional insight into what the average week of being an athletic reporter is like, how he got into journalism in the first place and tips \ tricks with interviewing techniques. I started my piece with a photo of Phil and a brief introduction and profile on him. When mentioning Leeds United and Leeds fans I made sure to use a picture of Elland Road. In addition, when describing Bielsa and the huge effect he had on the city I used a Mural located in Hyde Park with a quote and picture of Marcelo himself. With him being an author of a Sunday Times best seller, it only made sense to include one of his pieces, ‘And It was Beautiful’ captures the raw emotions and behind the scenes of Leeds United’s promotion push which saw them return to the premier league for the first time in 16 years.
