Vintage Vera travels around universities setting up vintage clothing stands for students ; today they held a kilo sale in the University Of Leeds student union. The purpose of the company is to promote conscious consumerism and look after our planet.
Vintage Vera was founded in 2017 by Gordan and Jonah, a father and his daughter`s boyfriend, they decided they were going to buy 1.5 kilos of vintage clothes and try and find a way to sell them on. After their first successful kilo sale they decided to put more time and money it in to help the business really take off.
A study carried out by WRAP, a charity that works with businesses to create a circular economy, states “Buying just one white cotton shirt produces the same amount of emissions as driving 35 miles in a car.” So by purchasing a kilo`s worth of second hand clothing you are helping towards a fast-fashion free planet.
Vintage Vera are an affordable brand, one kilo of vintage clothing is only £20, this could consist of 5-7 t shirts or a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt – it is all a bargain, this is why it is so popular amongst students.
University student, Hattie Rowan, was very excited about the kilo sale coming to Leeds, “I`ve followed Vintage Vera on Instagram for a while so when I saw they were coming to Leeds I booked an early bird ticket to get first dibs on the clothes.”
Vintage Vera are set to tour all round the UK but don’t fret they will back in Leeds again on November 20th in the Leeds University Union !
