Animals are in need of a forever home

ZEUS
The RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield and District Branch are rehoming and rehabilitating animals that have come into the shelter looking for a forever home.

A staffy dog Zeus has recently marked his one year anniversary of living at the shelter and he continues to wait for a welcoming home and family.

Animal Care Manager at the RSCPA, Hannah Rattray: “Its important to help those animals that just cant help themselves.

“We deal with the most neglected, the most abused, those who are shut down and its always nice to just really help them as they don’t have a voice do they.”

After the cost of living Crisis and Covid, many animal owners had to give up their fur friends due to finding the money or the time to take care of them.

There are animals in the shelter that have sadly experienced trauma and there are people who have rescued dogs who want to highlight that rescuing a dog with trauma affects it for life.

Natalie Row: “There was just no way that this mistrust and aggression was ever going to leave.

“It was there for life.”

The public express the importance of these animals having a family who loves them.

“It would be great to give one of them a home and a better life.”

With another saying, “They’ve been abandoned, they need somewhere to live.”

The locally funded charity are always raising money through their shop, online fundraisers and events in the local area.

The RSPCA are still looking for families who are ready to welcome a fur-friend into their home and are offering advice and support through their branch website.
