It is now possible for people to make their own wreath to celebrate Christmas.

Diving into the festive spirit, the Principal Trust Children’s Charity hosted the wreath-making workshop at Guiseley Christmas Teepees to raise funds for children in need around Yorkshire.

More than 30 people joined the event. They had a chance to unleash their creativity and design their Christmas wreaths with a professional.

The tutor at the workshop, Andrea Moyle, who is a renowned interior designer, introduced the workshop’s content. “We are gonna do a moss-base wreath with fur and robusta, which is a type of eucalyptus. And then we have got some quite traditional embellishments with two oranges, sticks, fur and the pinecones,” she said.

According to Ms Moyle, people could decorate their wreaths with their taste and interpretation. Therefore, everyone’s wreath looked different from each other.

The participants went to the event as groups of around 3-6 people and enjoyed the festivities with food, refreshments, drinks and a raffle. Debra Hawkshaw, one of the attendees, talked about the experience of making her own wreath. She said: “I have never made a wreath before. I am not sure if this is a good effort or a bad effort, but there are more things to go on it. Yet I did not realise the moss would be so wet and soggy, but it is lovely. Hopefully we will have a wreath for the front door to go home.”

The workshop aimed to raise funds for children and families in Yorkshire who are underprivileged. The organiser from the Principal Trust Children’s Charity, Kerry Magson, said: “We are renovating all accessible homes in the Lake District so that many more disabled children can enjoy making memories with their families for many years to come. So the fundraising that we raised today, our Christmas wreath-making workshop will go towards creating memories that last.”
