Thousands of Wakefield Trinity fans have sold out Old Trafford stadium and are getting ready to face Warrington Wolves in their first Super League grand final.
Trinity have completed a remarkable rise by reaching their first Super League final, only two years after returning from the Championship.
Daryl Powell’s team secured their finalist status by winning 33-6 against the Wigan Warriors on Saturday, ending all hope of Wigan winning the treble.
Warrington secured their finalist position by scraping a 14-12 win against Leeds Rhinos at Headingly stadium. The final will take place on Saturday kicking off at 6pm.
Regardless of the result Trinity have already made history for their club by reaching this stage in the competition. And their fans will follow them every step of the way.
Wakefield Trinity fan Eddie Butler managed to get tickets to the game, he shared his excitement for the final, and his plans for the big day. “Luckily I’ve got a mate that’s a season ticket holder. So, that’s good. The tickets were sold out online relatively quickly.”
Many fans travelling have complained about a delay on the Transpennine express lines due to congestion and alternate routes being taken. Luckily, for Eddie his dad has other plans for their journey down, driving himself, sons and friends, “We’re gonna drive all the way and hope that the parking’s not too bad.”
Eddie explained that his love for the team has grown in recent years and has managed to reach his family. Trinity seem to have an impact on their community and is supported by many, who will follow them in their success. “Me and my brother have started supporting, in the last few years and we’ve managed to get my dad into it because it was a bit against it for a while but he’s into it now.”
