National Book Month is an annual event that happens every October to celebrate reading, writing and literature. The event was founded in 2003 by the National Book Foundation and aims to encourage people to start reading. The amount of people reading has rapidly declined over the last few years with a survey done by YouGov stating that in the UK, 40% of the public have not read a single book in the last year.
Kezia, owner of Next Chapter books based in Leeds, “loves anything that celebrates books and encouraging people to read is the most important thing.”
Book stores all across the country show support for National Book Month by running various events and activities to promote reading and authors.
