Leeds median real-wage lags behind national average

The data from the Office for National Statistics shows that full-time workers in Leeds had 4.36% less buying power than the national average in 2024, with the median real-wage in Leeds being £26,946.

The UK median at that time was £28,177.

The Leeds average came closest to the national average in 2016, when they were both just over £27,000.

The collapse in real wage growth means that most people in Leeds and the UK as a whole don’t feel any richer now than a decade ago, despite the national GDP growing over the same period.
