Leeds City Council have put a stop to the annual bonfire events for the third year in a row.

Leeds city council cancel all bonfires for the third year in a row due to budget cuts and the fear that members of the public may cause disruption. The Leeds community have been left very disappointed as they are going to end another year with no communal celebrations for the 5th of November.

Natalie Morris mother of 3 “This Leeds bonfire has always been a nice event and brings families and friends together” “I don’t think its fair that the bonfire is being cancelled due to the disorder of a minority”

The Leeds community feel let down and shafted by the council as a fun filled evening everyone could have enjoyed has been taken away from them. Especially during such a disheartening time with the cost of living crisis.

Michael Butler Leeds resident “The Leeds Bonfire events are always something I have enjoyed, this is the third year they have been cancelled. I don’t know if it will ever be brought back at this rate.”

Some residents in Leeds are happy that the bonfire isn’t returning this year as it keeps disruption in the city low.

“I’m actually quite happy that it has been cancelled this year just because it has been such a big event. It is only one day of the year at the end of the day.” Jenifer Lomas

The cancellation of the Bonfire events has caused a stir within the community. Many hope next year the event can go ahead as it is such an enjoyable time for the community.
