Royal Mail strikes set to cause disruption across the UK

Over 150,000 Royal Mail workers are taking part in strikes as they urge for their pay and working conditions to improve.

Royal Mail is warning the public that they might see delivery times slow down as strikes have been planned across 19 days in October, November and December.

The strikes are also set to cover peak mail periods such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The Communication Worker’s Union is in full support of the strikes and are encouraging people to be understanding and support workers.

Many people are not too happy with the disruption that is going to take place.

Tallulah Williams, 23, uses Royal Mail daily as she sells clothes online and must post items to customers. Williams said, “I am trying to be understanding but it is going to be a pain for me as I won’t be able to offer the first class service I usually operate for all my parcels.

“I am hoping Royal Mail communicate with customers what is going on properly so I can at least let my customers know straight away. The last thing I want is for me to lose out on profits.”

Covid test deliveries and any Track24 deliveries will be prioritised. Letters will not be delivered on strike days.

Dan Coleman, 29, is taking part in the strikes and says they are completely necessary. He said, “We work day in day out and work extremely hard going from place to place constantly. Hopefully Royal Mail wake up and evaluate how they operate their business with their staff.”

Royal Mail has apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused and assured they are doing everything they can to minimise delays and keep everyone connected.
