The Rugby Autumn internationals have begun and pubs are hoping that fans use their facilities to watch games.

Pubs, hotels and restaurants, declined at the fastest pace since February 2021, when the UK was last in a lockdown. Tourism has experienced the fastest fall of any UK business sector.

With the Rugby internationals taking place right now, pubs are encouraging fans to watch the games outside of their house and at their local pubs.

Over the Halloween weekend, hundreds of students took to the pubs in Leeds to watch Scotland V Australia where Scotland lost by a single point.

Tom Mullard, 29, bar man at Original Oak, which is another popular spot for sports lovers said, “I know with it being Halloween weekend a lot more people were out, but we encourage those who would be watching the Rugby Autumn internationals at home, to come down and grab a drink.

“Every purchase helps us out and we would really appreciate any business during a difficult time for hospitality.”

With rugby games being shown every week, hopefully groups are able to get together to support their local businesses and use their facilities to help the hospitality sector whilst it struggles more than ever.
