A charity fashion show was held by Friends of Overgate of Brighouse, to raise money and support for Overgate Hospice.

Overgate Hospice, in Elland, relies on donations from people within the community to remain open, needing £9800 a day to give quality care.

The fashion show, in Hipperholme, saw individual boutiques and Overgate charity clothes shops showcasing a range of styles from lingerie to festive Christmas jumpers.

Angela Curran, organiser of the event and member of Brighouse Friends of Overgate, said: “It means to me the world.

“My husband died in the hospice 15 years ago and I couldn’t have managed at home without Overgate, and since then I’ve run a group, Brighouse Friends of Overgate, and we’ve raised about £150,000.”

The Find Boutique was one of the many local businesses supporting the charity fashion show.

Ness Burke, owner of the Find Boutique, said: “I’ve been supporting this charity since the beginning because Overgate touches everybody.

“It’s so important within our community.”

A number of local stalls were also at the event, selling handmade jewellery, seasonal tokens and more.

Overall, the fashion show raised £2548 for Overgate Hospice, thanks to the several volunteers who modelled items of clothing on the catwalk.

The hospice have been caring for the Calderdale community since 1981, with an aim to give their patients and their loved ones the best quality of life, at a difficult time.
