A year of terror for three University of Leeds students has come to a end after a fellow resident was reported to the police following multiple breaks in where he left heart shaped objects in students rooms.

Natalie Lewczuk, 21, reported the man to police after a housemate woke up to a unknown man watching over her in the early hours of Saturday 14. Lewczuk said objects were being moved and windows were being opened and closed when she wasn’t in the house.

“We started to notice when we would come back from a night out and noticed weird items that none of us bought, like heart shaped objects appearing in our rooms.”

Lewczuk and her housemates played down the incidents as ‘The house being haunted.”

The incidents came to a head when resident Esme Matthews woke up to someone stumbling around her room while her housemates were out.

She immediately contacted her friends and Lewczuk quickly rang for the police.

“When the police came we felt like we were being mocked by them as they didn’t believe us and told us to stop being dramatic.”

According to a report from police.uk 218 crimes were reported in the Hyde Park area in August this year, with 58 of the crimes being classed as burglary.

Since the incident the Uni of Leeds students have found new temporary accommodation after being left ‘fearful’ and ‘let down’ by the letting company.

“The bolts on our door were missing when we moved in and even after numerous calls to the landlord the issue was still not resolved, it’s just disappointing.”

West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for a statement.
