Leeds star starts fresh

22 year old young American Brandon Aaronson signed for Leeds united at the start of the 2022 season and struggled to find any form throughout the season resulting in Leeds United getting relegated from the English Premier League and Brenden getting loaned out to Union Berlin. The American youngster played 36 games for Leeds last season but only managed to score once and assisted three times.

When speaking with some Leeds United fans about the potential return of Aaronson next year, most fans response was “he’s still too young to compete for us in the premier league if we return”, and that ” we need to invest in better talent than Brenden, as he has already shown us he’s not ready”

Now out on loan at Union Berlin, Aaronson’s looks to put last years relegation behind him and re-find his form, but it hasn’t started well in Germany. Brenden received a red card in just his second match for Union Berlin and has had problems gaining a permanent spot in the starting XI, with majority of appearances being off the bench. In Aaronson’s interview with CBS, after there international friendly defeat to Germany, he reflected on the problems last season.

“you know, i think most of my career its been like this, but i think football has ups and downs, and every footballer knows that, its just sticking about for the ride”

“i just stay confident and believe in myself, and also just trying to help the team the best I can”

However, whilst being in Germany Urs Fisher the Union Berlin coach decided to switch his position from inverted winger to a number eight box to box midfielder. When Aaronson was questioned on whether he preferred playing in that role he said “I can play the 8 role, I’ve played it with the national USA team before and i like it”, “i think its all learning, and it just adds more to my game”.
