Leeds Beckett fresh start to new Rugby League season

Leeds Beckett`s rugby league team start the new season with a fresh start, with key players graduating from last season and ten debutants joining the squad.

Previous captain Jordan Bull and Vice-captain Fraser Stroud both leaving at the end of last season and more experienced players as well.

Ten debutants started for the Beckett Rugby league team during last weeks big game against Northumbria unfortunately lost out thirty six to ten.

Northumbria is the big game for Beckett each year as they are the top two teams in the league and last year lost out on the National Championships to them, that was Becketts eighteenth BUCS national final.

Second year Half back Fin Balback who captained the team against Northumbria last week was named captain for last weeks game.

Fin knowing the experienced players well he had this to say more experienced members leaving at the end of last season and captaining the side last week.

” Its never easy obviously having players leave, bit of a rebuild this year we`ve had a few more experienced boys Jordan Bull and Fraser Stroud leaving. “

I also asked him about how the new freshers are settling in ” They settling in just fine they’ve all come and got the right attitude right from the go and need to keep building, keep listening.”

Fresher Ben Sheard whos recently joined the Beckett team about being a fresher and joining a big university Rugby League team.

” Its great, great team environment just jelling really well at the moment”

When asking about how the older experienced helped them he said “They show me how to play the Leeds Beckett way and just boosting our confidence in the gym and aspects of their game.”
