Financial investment company, Hokulani Limited, has bought a significant stake in Halifax FC Women’s team.
Although the purchase price has not been disclosed, the team will receive a cash injection that will hugely impact the future of the club. This is Hokulani Ltd’s first real venture into football after previously donating and sponsoring women’s football in various countries in Europe via other companies they control. It also has investments in the music industry and sports broadcasting and media field.
Rob Mitchell, the first team manager and partial owner of Halifax FC Women said: “It’s going to be massive… Daniel’s got a vision of sustainability… there’s a planned structure,”. Mitchell also described the investment as something that, “can only be positive,” supporting the aura of optimism from fans online.
The long-term nature of the project is something that Mitchell particularly emphasised, saying: “We are going to evolve rather than have a revolution and change everything overnight”. He also spoke on their aim to maintain the culture and develop on what the club has already achieved.
Daniel Loitz, the Director and Principle investor at Hokulani Ltd said in the public statement: “promotion to the championship is a declared goal.” He also stated other goals such as: “to move to Halifax and build our own sports facility with a small stadium.”
Halifax doesn’t have its own stadium or training ground and is renting out Liversedge FC’s Clayborn Ground for the 2023/24 season. The team also trains at Calderdale College, renting a pitch twice a week. The possibility of Halifax having their own facilities and stadium is a massive step in the clubs development, allowing them to be more competitive and to achieve their eventual goal of promotion.
