Leeds United have made an agreement with Huddersfield Town over new 'reciprocal' ticket prices.

Leeds United have come to an agreement with Huddersfield Town over ‘reciprocal’ ticket pricing for their upcoming Championship fixture.

The idea was initially rejected by Huddersfield as they wanted Leeds to offer the cheaper ticket prices without offering the same prices themselves. Both clubs eventually came to an agreement, much to the disdain from the Leeds fans who will still pay £32-47 for their home ticket.

Milo Foster, A Leeds United member, gave his thoughts on the prices of the home tickets:

“Nearly 50 pounds to watch championship football, and there’s like 19 more games at home. It’s a lot of money to be spending, especially when you have families and kids”.

These price complaints have risen more questions on the current state of the cost of being a Leeds United fan. The merchandise at Leeds United is also seen as expensive by it’s fans, with a lot of fans waiting until the second half of the season or in the new year, when merchandise is on sale.

Hayden Griffiths, a Leeds United fan, gave his thoughts on the price of the clubs merchandise: “They start making you pay extortionate amounts when they bring a new kit out”.

Prices at the ground are also labelled as expensive by the fans. Milo gave us his experience of buying food at Elland road: “It’s very expensive, I usually get a pint and a hot dog which is about £10.50, a pint on it’s own is £5.50”.

Combined with the costs of tickets and merchandise, the total cost of a match day causes most fans to complain.

A lot of Leeds United members are also unhappy with their subscriptions, with a lot of fans claiming that the prices are not relative to what you actually get. Hayden was interviewed and gave his thoughts on whether purchasing a membership was worth its cost:

LUST (Leeds United Supporters Trust) and HTSA (Huddersfield Town Supporters Association) have called upon other clubs in the Championship to agree to formally back an away ticket price cap as well as Lobbying the EFL to implement it. If the Championship clubs can agree on an away ticket price cap, we could see a more affordable future for football fans.
