How does a Bradford born Rugby player switch to American football? Jacob Smillie tells his story.

Former Halifax Panthers and Bradford Bulls player, Jacob Smillie left the game of rugby in 2021 to pursue a career in American football.

After playing for Polish Football League outfit Silesia Rebels through the 2022 season, Smillie is hoping to join the International Federation of American football (IFA) as he is set to take part in their upcoming combine.

Smillie was the only player from West Yorkshire to attend the NFL’s International Combine back in 2021 and he hopes that his journey will help inspire others from the north to give American football a try.
