Jamie Spencer will be sidelined for twelve months after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament back in September.

Bradford Park Avenue (BPA) who have been struggling for form this season will be without a fans favourite for a long period of time.

Mark Bower the Avenue manager had his say on Spencers injury: “Jamie is a massive miss for us, he plays a key role in this side. All we can do is wish him a speedy recovery so he can get back to full fitness again.”

“We have so many games as it’s a long season so it is not ideal when you lose one of your best players for twelve months.”

Spencer the Halifax-born midfielder speaking on the setback said: “it has been a tough one to take, my life is so busy with work so being able to play football gave me the freedom to express myself outside of work.”

Jamie believes he will be a big miss for the team, he said: “I think I have an effect on and off the pitch, I wear my heart on my sleeve and hope it motivates the other players. I see myself as a leader, encouraging players is massive as it gets the best performances out of players.”

Spencer has been in and around the football scene for a long duration now, he played for Huddersfield Town aged 7-19, Bradford Park avenue for two years, Spennymoor one year, Guiseley AFC for one year and then returned to BPA for a second stint where he has been for two years.

Since Spencers injury the Avenue have struggled to pick up many points, from their last six league matches in the Northern Premier league BPA have only picked up two points. From the results it is clear to see that Jamie plays a huge role in the side.
