On Tuesday night, F.C Halifax Town faced Hartlepool United in the Vanarama National League. The Shaymen went into the match on the back of three league wins in a row, capped off with a 2-1 victory over Kidderminster Harriets this past weekend.

Hartlepool United have been struggling recently, Aldershot’s late comeback against Pool last Saturday was a difficult result to take. They were looking to rectify the 2-1 defeat by getting a result at the Shay Stadium.

The home side took the lead through Max Wright who made it 1-0 in the 34th minute, lacing it low, past the keeper for his first goal for the club.

The lead only lasted five minutes as former Halifax striker Mani Dieseruvwe made it 1-1. The equalizer was a well taken volley on the swivel, which marked his 10th  league goal of the season.

Halifax regained the lead thanks to defender Adam Senior. That ended up being the last goal of the game as the Shayman cruised to a 2-1 win, repeating the score line from the Kidderminster clash.

Max Wright after the game explained it was “a little bit of pressure off” and that he “feels like [he] can join in a little bit with the lads now [he’s] got a goal.”

Winger Wright came to Halifax Town on loan in January from Harrogate Town and signed for them permanently on a free transfer at the start of the summer transfer window (July 1).

Wright has quickly become a fan favourite amongst the Shaymen faithful, appearing in 15 of their 17 National League games this season. Wright added “for me this season… its just about getting games and finishing as high in the table as we possibly can.”

This weekend Halifax make the short trip to York City. If Town beat the team 20th in the league, they’ll have won all their league games this month. Chris Millington’s side will aim to keep up their current league form that has seen them rise to 6th in the league and take another 3 points.
