Doncaster Rovers are through to the knockout stages of the EFL trophy following a 2-1 win over League One side Burton Albion.

Mo Faal’s early strike, along with Kyle Hurst marking his return from injury with a goal, put Rovers in a strong position around the hour mark.

Beryly Lubala’s goal in the 84th minute made for a nervy end to the game as the Brewers poured forward in search of an equaliser, but the Rovers defence stood firm to seal the three points.

Having previously beaten Everton’s under 21 side, and with Burton and Mansfield still to face off, Doncaster have secured one of the top two spots in Group H and will therefore progress into the knockout stages of the competition.
