From Sheffield Wednesday to Marske United, find out which Yorkshire clubs give you the best value for money.

There are almost 30 professional and semi-professional football teams across Yorkshire, with each team varying in terms of success on the pitch and ticket prices. We looked at them all to see which delivered the most for your money.

Comparing data between the start of the 2020/21 season to the end of the 2022/23 season, Pickering Town had the best win percentage at 60.14%, ahead of Marske Town at 55.42% whilst Farsley Celtic had the worst win percentage at 24.76%, narrowly behind of Bradford (Park Avenue) at 25%.

Whereas ticket prices are concerned, Sheffield Wednesday has the most expensive home admission costs at £42, marginally more than Leeds United at £40. The cheapest home tickets available to purchase is at Yorkshire Amateur, who compete at step 6 of the non-league system, at £6 a match, slightly cheaper than Tadcaster Albion’s £7.

Marske United have the second-best win percentage during the three years, largely in part down to their promotion from the Northern Premier League – East Division in 2021/22, where they won 28 of their 36 games that campaign, finishing only behind Liversedge, who was only defeated once the entirety of that season.

Marske currently charges £12 for tickets in there home end.

Dave from Marske United Supporters Club, said: “We have been promoted to step 3, our highest ever position.

“Most of the clubs we face are circa 250 mile round trip when we are away.

“We have been promoted several times and are a victim of our own success.

“We always struggle financially as there are some massive clubs in our league with crowds over 3000 as opposed to our 400.

“I think we offer good value as we play progressive football.”

At Bradford (Park Avenue), it has been a slightly different story the past few years.

Avenue only better Farsley Celtic in terms of win percentage between 2020/21 and 2022/23, being victorious in only 25% of their fixtures across that period.

‘Jez’ from the BPA fan forum, said: “Season tickets for the converted are cheap but that doesn’t really help bring in newbies.

“The area the club resides in is economically deprived so the club should be sympathetic to this and aim for high numbers with low admission on the day.”

‘Pat Mustard’ from the BPA fan forum said: “I think while we were in the National League North the season tickets were exceptional value for the level of football.

“Although it wasn’t always entertaining, we were going toe to toe against far bigger clubs than ourselves such as York, Chester, Kidderminster etc. and picking up points against them.

“This season it’s a different matter. Although the season ticket is cheaper, the football on offer is dire, and it’s harder to take watching us lose to teams like Atherton Collieries compared to teams like York.

“Due to this, I don’t feel motivated to attend night games, which are more awkward to get to, and I’ve also missed some Saturday games I would ordinarily have attended as well.

“So when I work out the price per game for the games I have actually attended, it isn’t even good value, despite the cheap season ticket.

“£13 is too much for what is on offer.”

Although Sheffield Wednesday have the most expensive home admissions, they also have one of the best win percentages.

Juxtaposed to this is Bridlington Town, with one of the cheapest tickets at £8 but one of the worst win percentages at 28.57%.

Do you think that these teams are worth the price?
