Jennifer Coleman-Peers was attacked by a man from behind who was carrying a box of chocolates and flowers.

A man carrying a box of chocolates and flowers bit a woman mid-show.

The show at Leeds Playhouse was taking place in the afternoon and Coleman-Peers was bitten in front of many stunned and horrified schoolchildren.

West Yorkshire Police were called at 2:46 pm on Wednesday the 21st of February where the 39-year-old suspect was taken out of the theatre but then fled the scene while Coleman-Peers was being taken to the hospital for further treatment.

He was caught and later released on bail and the victim’s injuries were thankfully not life-threatening.

This was a seemingly odd and out-of-the-norm circumstance.

But it paints a very important picture.

Incidents can happen at any point, even when you least expect it.

So how does one prepare?

SGS Krav Maga has put out six ways to improve your situational awareness:

  1. Identify Objects around you
  2. Notice other people
  3. Identify entry and exit points
  4. Practice prediction
  5. Trust your intuition
  6. Practice situational fighting techniques

This situation worked out for the better.

The suspect is in custody and the victim has no serious injuries but it doesn’t always happen that way.

The world is changing and not all for the better so it is best to always be prepared.
