As a public relations student, I attend a lecture organized by Rudiger, our course leader. This lecture is specially invited by Kosta, an industry elite in the field of PR. Kosta founded P World in 2010 and has earned recognition as a leading organizer of PR, HR and marketing events by expanding it to more than 40 countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and North America. Kosta is not only the founder of P World, but also a founder who has caused profound changes within the PR industry. This experience was an invaluable learning opportunity for a student like me eager to make a unique mark in the PR field. At the same time, it also made me realize that PR activities are not only about learning skills and theories, but also about improving communication skills, problem-solving skills, and teamwork spirit in practice. Through the story of Kosta, I deeply understand the challenges and opportunities of PR industry and plan a clearer direction for my future career development.

When Kosta was young, he, like most people, dreamed of going to the United States to study and live. He is an ambitious person. As an exchange student, he bravely travelled from a foreign country to the prosperous United States, only to use different environments to improve his ability. He overcame different cultures and other difficulties in the United States. His experience inspired me that even if the starting point is not ideal, if I have a dream, use it to take the first step to overcome difficulties, and work hard on the road of life, I can stand firm in this world, find my own position, and realize my dream.

Kosta wanted to experience a different life experience, so he moved to Dubai and started a business in Dubai. The start of the business was very successful, but unfortunately, he encountered the financial crisis in 2008. The crisis put his company at risk of failure. However, he was not discouraged. He chose to overcome the difficulties brought by the financial crisis, maintain tenacity and courage, and encourage his employees to overcome difficulties and rebuild the company together with him. Because of his perseverance, his company was not defeated by the crisis, but became better and better on the way to success. His positive and optimistic attitude deeply infected me, so that I had to give him a look of admiration. This positive attitude is exactly what we need in PR. While we have solid professional knowledge, we still need to have the courage to overcome challenges.

Kosta founded P World Enterprise. Successfully demonstrated their ability, by customer recognition and satisfaction. As a PR Enterprise, P World’s success shows its important position in transnational communication. His success was not achieved in one step, it was the result of his hard workday and night. His understanding and respect for different cultures is what makes his business. In today’s international environment, PR is no longer a simple promotion work, but a process that requires understanding and adapting to different cultures. For those of us who are PR majors, paying attention to global dynamics can help us to think more broadly and be more flexible to the challenges brought by different cultures, to be able to work and communicate in different cultural environments.

This event provided us with a learning opportunity and valuable experience for our career. I have learned a lot from Kosta’s story. I am convinced that through Kosta’s sharing, I can avoid detangles in my future PR career and make my own small contribution to the PR industry.
