In Leeds, International Men’s Day is being supported by major influential figures on social media such as Leeds City Council, other well known organisations and charity groups.

This day is extremely important, it raises awareness for many charities that aim to support men’s mental health among other very important subjects and creating a positive difference for men’s lives.

It is crucial that the support that is available is made widely accessible to the public. The awareness of the issue is what is needed to be raised so that men do know that the option is there for them if they need help.

International Men’s day is a platform focused on the wellbeing of men:

“what we’re hoping to achieve is more support for those charities and organisations that support them and that we start to have a better and more positive conversations about men, masculinity and manhood” – Mark Brooks, National Ambassador for international Men’s Day UK.

There are various support groups/charities that men can contact, one of them being Andys Man Club. They have clubs situated across the country that offer mental health support talk groups every Monday.

“Andys Man Club is important for men’s mental health because it gives men an outlet once a week to come together and talk in an environment where they’re not going to be judged and they can say what they like” Richard Fisher – facilitator at Andys Man Club, Leeds.
