The stunning news came yesterday morning as all the Super League fixtures were announced for the new season.

Season membership holder Dylan Tyrah wasn’t impressed with this announcement: “I’m not entirely sure if the renovation is going to be beneficial at all but we’re just going to have to wait and see”.

”I’m not too fond of going to other grounds, I’m not very happy at all about having to travel further for games as I go with my father and he’s got arthritis and all the walking is not good for him”.

Headingley Stadium will require work done to the pitch in preparation for the 2022 Rugby League World Cup as Headingley is one of the host venues.

This means the Rhinos will not play a home game for 2 months while the work is being done, this includes 5 away games and the Magic Weekend in Newcastle.

Another fan, Connor Ackyard was more optimistic: “I know it’ll be worthwhile in the long-run with the renovations, it’ll be good for season and international games”.

An additional reason for their prolonged absence from Headingley is the staging of a currently unspecified “large event” happening in the stadium between rounds 14 and 15 of the season.

Leeds Rhinos released the following statement after the fixture release: “This year, the stadium pitch will have an overdue pitch renovation immediately following the large stadium event to make sure it is the best possible condition for the Rhinos and importantly to host the Rugby League World Cup fixtures next Autumn.”

It remains to be seen whether the absence from home will affect the player performances too much.
