Leeds businesses and the community are finding ways to keep energy prices low and help people who cannot afford to heat their homes.

This winter many people up and down the country are worried that the energy crisis will affect their businesses and affect their lives at home.

In the lead-up to winter, many businesses are finding new ways to cut down on their energy bills and to prevent having to shut down due to the prices skyrocketing.

Horsforth Brewery, a pub in Leeds has tried to save money to help with energy bills by increasing the prices of their products. Emma Krown a bar manager said:

“We’ve had to cut down on our staffing hours, as we can’t keep the cost down on the energy bills… we are having to find ways to make it comfortable and warm for our customers as we are a bar and a brewery.”

Places in Leeds are trying to help the community by providing warm spaces for vulnerable people this winter for people who cannot afford to keep warm.

A local Vicar in Leeds has set up a warm space in the Pudsey Parish Church located in South Pudsey. Reverand Richard Dimery and a number of members of the church are providing hot drinks and putting on films for people to enjoy who are being heavily impacted by the rising costs of energy.

The project aims to support vulnerable people who cannot afford to stay warm during the UK energy crisis, the church will open its doors to anyone struggling to heat their homes or stay warm.
