Food banks are becoming more essential every year, with football clubs emerging as integral in the process of feeding their communities.

The cost of living crisis has strained people’s access to the essentials over the past few years, meaning even those in work have been forced to seek extra help just to get by.

According to the official website there has been a 30% increase in the need for foodbanks in south and east Leeds between 2022 and 2023.

Prior to Leeds’ home clash versus local rivals Huddersfield, the food bank continued their effort to provide provisions for young and old in Leeds through fan collections.

Wendy, the project manager for the food bank was able to provide background on the initiative as well as the demand and impact in Leeds so far.

The effort will continue outside Elland Road every matchday, all donations of money or food are welcome.

They also take monthly or one-off monetary donations here.
