Cameron Noyes has been hired as the new Football Coordinator, following the departure of predecessor Chris Smith.

A new Football Coordinator, Cameron Noyes has brought fresh ideas into Leeds Beckett football, to take the club to the next level.

Noyes has introduced two football development projects one of them being the global games, which is to “target international students to get involved in football”.

One of the changes from Noyes was reviewing the data behind the football clubs and noticing “they aren’t necessarily reflective on the Leeds Beckett demographic” the data clearly shows international students aren’t integrating with Beckett clubs.

With a growing proportion of international students coming to Leeds Beckett, one of Noyes’ main aims is to involve them within the clubs and increase the opportunity to play.

Merging students into the social leagues is an opportunity to allow talent to be identified which bridges the gap into the main Beckett football teams.

The global project allows international students to get involved with football for fun and meet new people. “Those who are good enough ensuring there’s a pathway into the Beckett football clubs” said Noyes.

The other football development project is around women’s football, and having a turn-up and play session.

In previous years this was not aligned with the Beckett football club which meant according to Noyes that “there was a disconnection”.

Noyes has assigned an activator from the women’s football team to lead the sessions. “So there’s a pathway into the club for anyone who is unsuccessful in trials.”

The new coordinator has introduced, a regional football festival in Yorkshire. The university has recognised there are certain sports that do not fit into the BUCS structure and can create a competition.

The first of these sporting festivals runs on November 4 at Boddington. “It’s a foundation, it’s the start of the idea of festivals” said Noyes.
