Dj PAS, a regular performer at sheaf street said: “For me sheaf street was one of the different venues! It had so much going on there that it just brought everyone together! From events to general open decks and then residency nights and even the food!

“Sheaf street brought the community together from doing clothes sales and pop up shops to hosting some of the biggest names in the dance scene. They always gave small artists the opportunity to start out and make a name for themselves and they also hosted some of the biggest and upcoming dance companies. There was something for everyone.”

“The music scene it’s definitely not getting the support the council. The night life industry makes up 6% of the UKS GDP (dazed music for reference) we are an important sector! It’s so sad to see a staple venue like this close because of the cost of living crisis!”

“I hope this shows to people that not only do we need to continue to support upcoming djs and parties and venues but we need to have a rethink about the way this country is being looked after and who is looking after it! Many people are going to be out of jobs and put in hardship because of this closure!”

Sheaf street enthusiast Freya said: “A lot of our friends are DJs who have started their careers at Sheaf so it’s sad to see their place gone too. I got married at Sheaf St in 2019 so it’s a really special place for us. We have taken our son to various events there this year which has cemented our relationship with it, so its untimely closure feels very personal to us – a real loss for Leeds for so many and varied people.”
