The Scandinavian themed bar has said it has been the busiest they have been since opening 7 years ago

The drinking bar, Thor’s Tipi, has returned to Leeds to bring a bit of Scandinavia to the city.

Thor’s has been coming to Leeds Christmas Markets for 7 years but this year there has been an increase in people coming since the big comeback from the markets after COVID.

General Manager, Brandon Lakin, said “When I walked through to get to work, normally to get to the bar it is quite hard, to get through the bar and the crowd is quite difficult. Getting into my sight this year was difficult because there was just a sea of people everywhere, it was brilliant.”

The Tipi bar boasts a fire pit, seasonal decorations and drinks such as hot chocolate and mulled wine. The idea to bring a bit of Scandinavia to the UK started in 2015 and first came to Leeds a year later, it has gotten busier ever since.

Lakin said “It’s like a 60/40 Christmas Nordic split, the fire pit vibe and the barrels is just how they imagine how the Nordic/Scandinavian people sit around the fire and drinking mulled wine.”

Bar tender, Christina Walker, said “I think people just want that Christmas spirit again after we lost it for the last two years, so I think this means a lot to people.”

Thor’s Tipi in Leeds is the second top selling bar in the franchise, with the other locations being York, London and Lincoln.

The bar plans to stay open and carry on bringing the festivities until 31 December.
