One in five children in Leeds are living in poverty, according to the councillor in charge of children's care

The Child Poverty Report is facing the Scrutiny Board at Leeds City Council this afternoon.

The strategy is called Thriving and was first launched in 2019.

It aims to address the stigma of poverty and improve access to food and other basic needs to ensure children have a fun, happy, stigma-free childhood.

Councillor Fiona Venner is the Executive Board Member for Children’s Social Care and Health Partnerships.

She says the board has been listening to the voices of children when producing the Child Poverty Strategy.
