Copy

« Back to Glossary Index

A story for a radio bulletin without any audio clips attached.

Usually 2-3 lines, about 15 seconds.

It is self-contained so it needs to tell the story without assuming any prior knowledge by the listener.

It’s good practice to write two versions of copy so the story can be used in more than one bulletin.

Should be saved in the format:

STORY COPY 1

STORY COPY 2

For example, a story about an emergency landing at Leeds Bradford Airport might be:

LANDING COPY 1

A plane carrying 170 passengers had to have an emergency landing at Leeds Bradford Airport.

It happened at about half past two this afternoon, after a bird flew into one of the engines.

Yorkshire Airlines says no-one was hurt.
