Roan has always had a fixation on motorsport.

“Growing up, my dad watched a lot of motor GP and I was hooked.”

Taking politics, law, and English language at A-level allowed them to continue to indulge in their love for motorsport broadcasting.

“Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsport,” said Roan, “Covid season solidified that for me.”

Their favourite news sites are Autosport, WTF1, The Race, and Motorsport.com

“These are websites run by independent journalists away from the main broadcasting channels and cover the smaller stories,” they said, “providing insider information and viewpoints.

With personal financial situations leaving them unable to progress in a closer career, Roan decided to use their A-level in English Language to begin a new journey in Sports Journalism.

“Things change, I wanted to stay close to home.”

Despite Roan’s clear interest in motorsport, They aren’t in any forums or clubs and instead bond with their cousin, who is a driver for the ‘British Superbikes.’

They also believe motorsport to be much more interesting than football or other mainstream sports.

“I enjoy the more technical side of racing and the work that teams/individuals undertake behind the scenes,” they say, “Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.”
