On 15th of April, the entire Yorkshire region was blanketed by a yellow warning which was in force from 6:25am until 10pm.

Strong wind of up to 50 mph are expected to hit, potentially causing some travel disruption to both road and rail throughout Monday, along with that some short power cuts are also expected in Yorkshire region and that is not all along with windy conditions there are some expected heavy showers , hail and even thunder.

Weather update for 15th April 2024

The effects of yellow warning on people living in Yorkshire region are

  1. The residents says that it is not a normal weather for them because they have seen hail, heavy rain, strong winds and even snow at 3 PM.
  2. One person has also tweeted on X / Twitter stating his opinion on the weather he says “It’s been torrential here in West Yorkshire. We’ve been getting blue skies in between deluges. This is definitely not normal and the weather is being messed with.”
  3. Humber Bridge remains closed due to high sided and vulnerable vehicles because of the yellow warning ahead.
  4. It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
  5. Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  6. Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
  7. Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  8. Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

Huddersfield

Heavy rain changing to hail showers by lunchtime. Maximum temperatures of 8C, with lows of 5C.

Heavy showers are expected throughout the morning, changing to hail at around 2pm.

Wind gusts of up to 46 mph will make it feel as cold as 2C.

Sheffield

Heavy rain is expected to batter Sheffield at the start of the week. On Monday, there will be highs of 9C and lows of 6C.

Heavy showers are expected to last until 9pm in the evening, stopping briefly at around 7pm. Some sunny spells are expected in between showers.

Wind gusts of up to 46 mph will make temperatures across the city feel cooler.

York

Heavy rain changed to cloudy in the afternoon, with maximum temperatures of 9C and lows of 6C.

Unlike other parts of the region, showers are expected to stop by 2pm, remaining cloudy for the rest of the day.

Wind gusts will be slightly less strong at 40 mph.

Bradford

Heavy rain changing to hail showers by late morning.

There will be maximum temperatures of 8C in Bradford on Monday, with lows of 5C. Hail is expected at around 9am, with heavy showers lasting throughout the remainder of the day and into the evening.

Again, wind gusts of up to 48 mph will make temperatures feel as cold as 2C.

The weather forecast for Yorkshire on Monday, according to The Met is: “Some intermittent brighter spells between heavy blustery showers and the odd rumble of thunder. Feeling cold in the strong winds. Becoming drier during the evening. Maximum temperature 10C.”
